Paintings headed to the Musee des Arts Derniers in Paris

I posted about the "Legacy of Local Artists" exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art in a previous blog entry. Here is more detail about this special installation from www.columbusalive.com :

Portrait of an Artist

...Artists usually document larger-than-life subjects, but a special exhibition at the Columbus Museum of Art offers a new way of looking at the artists themselves. Togo-native artist and gallery proprietor Talle Bamazi captures five African American artists set against spare surrealist backgrounds in his new exhibition, Columbus Portraits.

Inspired by the West African oral tradition of griots, Bamazi documented five Columbus-based painters, artists, photographers and friends on enormous canvases in homage to the importance of tradition in contemporary creative life. Along with Aminah Robinson — whose latest exhibition, Along Water Street, is also currently on display — local photographers Kojo Kamau, Abdi Roble and Tariq Tarey and painter Ron Anderson, are given the royal treatment in subdued oils on linen...

A closing reception takes place Wednesday February 27, before the portraits make their way to the Musee des Arts Derniers in Paris.

Columbus Museum of Art, Legacy of Local Artists 2/08

Columbus Museum of Art

Ron was one of several local artists that had their portraits painted by artist Talle Bamazi recently. The completed paintings make up the "Legacy of Local Artists" display at the Columbus Museum of Art from 2/1/08 - 2/28/08.

The following article at the Fostoria Review Times Online gives a  description of this special installation:

"...The Columbus Museum of Art celebrates the city's rich heritage of African-American art with a special installation of works by Columbus artist Talle Bamazi on view Feb. 1-28. Bamazi created an ongoing series of portraits of his colleagues with objects symbolic of their African Lineage...."

This is a wonderful project, and brings many of the areas finest from the art community to the attention of art lovers, and patrons of the museum.

YouTube , Ron Anderson Studio playlists

I created a playlist on YouTube that I have entitled "Art" that will display video clips from prominent Museums.

The clips vary in length, and are quite interesting to view. The commentary highlights the extraordinary artwork on display in the various Museums.

You can access our page on YouTube by clicking this link:

Ron Anderson Studio YouTube videos

I have embedded the video player on the sidebar of my Typepad blog or you can just go straight to the site with the link above.

When I have time, I am going to add more clips, and look for additional content. Ron and I are thinking about clips of our own to add that might show him working on a painting in his studio or show him at one of his art exhibits.

Richard M. Ross Art Museum

Ohio Wesleyan University

Ron has had the good fortune to be invited to participate in many exceptional Art Exhibitions over the years. I will try to post about our experiences with the Galleries and Museums we have worked with on my Blog as time permits.

This post covers the Richard M. Ross Art Museum at Ohio Wesleyan University. Ron was invited to show his artwork earlier this year in an exhibition entitled " Figuratively Speaking: The Human Figure in Contemporary Art".

We have only positive things to say about this experience. Justin Kronewetter, Museum Director and Curator contacted Ron about the show and we welcomed the opportunity to share Ron's paintings with the Museum membership.

It was a pleasure to work with Justin during the initial planning stages through the exhibition of the artwork. He was very cordial and professional and has a sincere interest in Ron's artwork.  We were  pleased to work with such  a professional organization as the Richard M. Ross Art Museum, and we appreciated their attention to detail and the planning that went into presenting Ron's oil paintings.

Ron was also asked to speak at the Reception about his paintings, and had a  very supportive and interested audience in the members and guests who attended the event. This exhibition is one of the most professional we have participated in and we enjoyed the experience.

The Springfield Museum of Art

Excellent venue for Art Exhibition

We exhibited Ron's original oil paintings at several Art Galleries and Museums recently and have been very impressed with the results of our Marketing efforts.

I will post about our experiences in exhibiting at these various locations as I find time to add posts to my Blog.

One venue in particular that we were very pleased to work with was the Springfield Museum of Art in Springfield, Ohio.

The Springfield Museum of Art

We worked with Mark Chepp (Director) , and Dominique Vasseur (former Deputy Director) and found them both to be very knowledgeable and professional. It was a pleasure to work with both gentlemen and their staff from initial planning through the return of artwork at the close of the exhibit.

Ron's solo exhibit was displayed in the McGregor Gallery of the Museum and this space is an artists dream for an incredible gallery to display paintings. If you visit the Museum web site and access the "Past Exhibits" link, you can view the gallery space.

We were very excited about the number of people who drove down to Springfield from Columbus, Ohio to see the show. Our guests included several of Ron's Art Patrons as well as  an Art Exhibit Coordinator for a local prominent Art Gallery space.

Ron was offered two major exhibits as a result of the show and was interviewed by Bill Mayr of The Columbus Dispatch newspaper who also made the trip to view the artwork.

This was one of our first shows where we displayed a large number of paintings. There were close to twenty paintings exhibited with a central theme of "tension" and "energy" that was displayed in some manner on each canvas.

This was also a great learning experience for me. We took the time to prepare and our planning and communication went very smoothly in working with the Museum. I took time after the show to modify the various checklists, forms and correspondence I prepare for our exhibits so that they will be  even more useful for future exhibits.

We are now wrapping up details to have one of the paintings from the show included in the permanent art collection of the Museum.
